Mahjong Ways at u777 — Win Chances with Ancient Tiles in a New Form
Mahjong Ways, made by PG Soft, is a unique video slot — at u777 you get reels styled with Chinese mahjong tile designs, hundreds of winning ways and an exciting bonus round all in one. The game's max RTP is 96.92%, which is notable among slots of this type.
Mahjong Ways is a six-reel video slot by PG Soft, with five rows on each reel — meaning a 6×5 grid and 4,096 Ways to Win. It uses traditional mahjong tile symbols — number tiles, bamboo, circles and special honour tiles — which gives the game a look unlike other slots.
Instead of fixed paylines, the "Ways" system is used, so matching symbols in adjacent positions anywhere on the reels count as a win, left to right or right to left — no specific line is needed. This means there is potential to form multiple combinations on every spin.
The game's graphics are styled in deep blue and gold, creating an ancient Chinese atmosphere, and the tile animations activate in a special way when you win. On the u777 platform, the game runs just as smoothly on mobile.
Before starting the game, you set your bet amount. Mahjong Ways has a fairly wide bet range — you can start low and increase gradually. Once the bet size is set, pressing the Spin button spins all 6 reels together, and winning combinations are calculated automatically when they stop.
Wild Symbol: The game has a special wild tile that substitutes for any other symbol to increase the chance of winning. Scatter symbols can land in any position on the reels.
Free Spin Bonus: Landing a certain number of scatter tiles together triggers the free spin round. During the bonus round, special multiplier tiles are added that can multiply winnings several times over. If scatters land again during the bonus round, extra free spins are awarded.
Mega Win Potential: The maximum win in Mahjong Ways can reach a significant multiple of the bet — especially when multipliers combine during the free spin bonus. This has made the game popular among Asian-themed slots of its kind.

Mahjong Ways is a medium to high volatility slot. Volatility refers to how often and how large wins come — in a high volatility game, smaller wins come less frequently but the chance of a bigger win is higher, especially in the bonus round.
Budget-wise: This game suits players who prefer longer sessions with smaller bets and are willing to wait for a big bonus round. You can play for a long time with a small bet, and when the bonus triggers, there is a chance for a larger win.
Session length: Players who prefer medium or longer sessions benefit more, as the bonus round can take time to trigger. Those who play quick short sessions will see fewer wins per spin.
Experience level: New slot players can play this game too, as the rules are simple. However, players who understand volatility and are used to managing their budget will get more out of this game.
Start with Demo
Mahjong Ways can be played in demo mode at u777. Spend some time in demo before putting in real money — get familiar with the bonus mechanics and how the reels behave.
Set a Session Budget
Keep a separate budget for each session. It is better not to put more than 20-30% of your total balance into a single session — this way one unlucky session will not wipe out your overall balance.
Follow Stop Limits
Decide in advance how much you will lose before stopping a session and how much you will win before stepping away. Stick to these limits — avoid changing your mind in the heat of the moment.
Adjust Bet Size
In a medium volatility game, avoid bets that are too large relative to your budget. More spins at a smaller bet means a higher chance of the bonus round arriving.
"This slot is due to pay out — it hasn't hit in a long time"
Every spin is independent and controlled by a Random Number Generator (RNG). What happened on previous spins has no connection to the next spin. The idea that "the slot will pay now" is completely wrong, and raising your bet based on this thinking is risky.
"Doubling the bet after a loss will recover the losses"
Increasing your bet to recover losses is the most common mistake. Even if it works briefly, your balance runs out fast in the long run. Stopping or reducing your bet after a loss is the right move.
"More paylines or ways always means more wins"
4,096 ways means more opportunities, but the rate and size of wins depend on RTP and volatility. More ways does not always guarantee more net wins.
"Some strategy can increase the RTP"
Mahjong Ways' max RTP of 96.92% is set in the game's code — it cannot be changed by any betting pattern or timing. Following the responsible gaming policy is the smartest way to play.
u777's slots section has many types of video slots — from classic 5-reel payline slots to Megaways engine games. Mahjong Ways stands out from these for a few reasons:
Tile-based theme
Most slots feature fruit, gemstones or mythological characters. Mahjong Ways uses actual mahjong tile designs, which makes it especially appealing to those familiar with Asian culture.
Theme4,096 Ways vs Paylines
Classic slots have 10-50 fixed paylines. Here, 4,096 ways means no need to track paylines — matching tiles landing side by side is enough to win.
MechanicCompared to Megaways slots
In games like Bonanza Megaways or Extra Chilli Megaways, the number of ways changes every spin. In Mahjong Ways, the 4,096 ways are fixed, so the win structure is predictable on every spin.
ComparisonDifference from fishing games
In fishing games like Ocean King Jackpot at u777, skill and targeting matter. In Mahjong Ways, the outcome is entirely RNG-based — it is a pure game of chance.

RTP (Return to Player) is the theoretical percentage of every ৳100 wagered that is expected to be returned to players over the long term. Mahjong Ways' max RTP of 96.92% means that theoretically about ৳96.92 out of every ৳100 may be returned — but this is an average across thousands of spins, and any single session can go higher or lower.
